First stop today is Topeka and one of the most important civil rights sites in the United States - Brown v Board of Education. This park site educates visitors about the U.S. Supreme Court decision in which the Court ruled that state laws establishing racial segregation in public schools are unconstitutional.

In the United States it's customary that when a president leaves office, a presidential library is built in the state he is from. Dwight D. Eisenhower or "Ike" - the 34th United States president, is from Abilene. His presidential library opened in Abilene in 1947 and is next door to his boyhood home and where he grew up.
Visitors to the library will have a chance to see over 70,000 artifacts, 26 million pages of historical records and papers and 335,000 photographs. There's also a visitor center and museum.

You can view some of Abilene's famous trains at the historic train depot. The Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad is non profit organization that offers train rides and events throughout the month. There's also a small museum onsite with railroad memorabilia and model trains.
